No. 13 Hoosiers Drop Two To Top 10 Opponents At Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. – No. 13 Indiana dropped a pair on day two of the 2023 Triton Invitational to #2 USC (16-7) and #7 Long Beach State (15-8).

KEY MOMENTS

Against the Trojans, the Hoosiers battled early but faced a one-goal deficit after the first, 4-3. USC would go on to score three unanswered goals as it built a 6-3 advantage.
However, Indiana would respond on back-to-back goals from freshman Nicole Tyner and graduate student goalie Mary Askew to trail by one at the break, 6-5. After scoring its last two goals in the third quarter, USC went on a 7-0 run to pull away.
Keeping things tight through three quarters with the Beach. They scored a pair of goals from Askew and Sollie late in the first to tie the game at 5-5 after one. Long Beach took a one goal lead at the break, 7-6, and Indiana was able to take a lead on a senior Zoe Crouch goal with 5:10 left in the third.
But LBSU scored eight unanswered goals in the final 13-plus minutes of play as the Hoosiers moved to the seventh-place game of the invitational tomorrow afternoon.

NOTES

Sophomore center Sophia Sollie and senior Robyn Greenslade each scored a team-high two goals against the Trojans.
Sollie added a team-high three goals against the Beach. Four other Hoosiers scored including two from Crouch.
IU's record is now 7-4, 0-1 MPSF on the season.
The Hoosiers and Trojans will meet up again in MPSF action on March 25 in Los Angeles.
