Bellarmine (5-9) raced out to an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning, but Indiana (8-6) got two runs back in the bottom half of the frame. One run in the second and three more in the third pushed the Knights out to a 7-2 lead. The Hoosiers then scored the final seven runs – one in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the eighth – to earn a second straight come-from-behind win.
Freshman Aydan Decker-Petty (1-0) entered the game with one on and one out in the third inning and allowed just one base runner over 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts to earn his first collegiate victory. He retired six straight batters to start his outing and stranded a runner on second base in his second career appearance.
Redshirt senior Craig Yoho fanned five batters over three innings of work and sophomore Ryan Kraft (4) earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning and three strikeouts. Senior Ben Seiler didn't factor into the decision in his fourth start of the season with four runs allowed on five hits in 1 1/3 innings.
Five IU hitters posted multi-hit games – all the two-hit variety – with redshirt junior Morgan Colopy adding three RBIs to his two-high contest. Senior Phillip Glasser reached base three times with a 2-for-3 might at the plate, two runs scored and one walk. Sophomore Brock Tibbitts walked and reached via hit-by-pitch and scored twice, while freshman Tyler Cerny went 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and one run scored.
Glasser moved his reached base streak to 14 games and posted his ninth multi-hit game of the season in the process. Hunter Jessee moved his reached base streak to 32 games dating back to 2022.
Casey Sorg and Colin Bertsch each had two hits for Bellarmine, with Bertsch adding a pair of RBIs. Ryan Johnson (0-1) took the loss with three runs allowed on one hit and two walks over one-third of an inning of relief.
