BERKLEY, Calif. – No. 19 Indiana suffered a narrow defeat in MPSF action on Saturday at No. 3 Cal, falling 9-7 at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

KEY MOMENTS
- Freshman Louisa Downes evened the score late in the first quarter, while sophomore Grace Hathaway got a pass from freshman Nicole Tyner to make it a 2-1 advantage for the Hoosiers.
- Senior Zoe Crouch evened things up after the Bears went up one score with 2:35 left in the second quarter. Cal had the answer on a 6-on-5 opportunity to take a 4-3 halftime lead.
- Indiana fell behind in the third, getting outscored 3-1, and faced a 7-4 deficit with one quarter to play. They faced as many as a four-goal deficit in the fourth but battled their way back as it just came up short.
NOTES
- Downes led the way with three goals.
- Crouch, Debow, White, Tyner and Hathaway each added a goal.
- Senior goalie Mary Askew recorded 12 saves in the cage.
- Indiana moves to 13-10 on the year.
