BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After a weekend series sweep over Morehead State, the Indiana baseball program will look to continue its winning ways at home in a midweek contest versus Indiana State on Tuesday (March 21) at Bart Kaufman Field.
Indiana (13-7) is an unblemished 10-0 at home this season and will face an Indiana State (8-10) team that owns a 6-4 record in true road games this season. Last season, the two teams met in Terra Haute where Indiana overcame a 5-1 deficit to earn the victory, 6-5. The Hoosiers scored five of the six runs in the ninth inning, with Carter Mathison's pinch-hit three-run homer tying the game and Tyler Doanes solo home run providing the eventual game-winning run.

- Indiana and Indiana State will meet for the 114th time in program history on Tuesday. The Hoosiers won 6-5 in come-from-behind fashion last season in Terra Haute last season and are 66-46-1 all time in the series with the Sycamores.
- The Hoosiers are a perfect 10-0 at home in 2023 after a three-game sweep of Morehead State last weekend. The 10 straight wins to start the home schedule mark the best unblemished start to a home season since Bart Kaufman Field opened in 2013.
- Freshman Carter Mathison and redshirt-senior Matthew Ellis each have two home runs on the season to bring their career totals to 21 and 20, respectively, for the Cream and Crimson.

- Senior Hunter Jessee posted his second career multi home run game versus Miami (Ohio) with a first inning home run to right field and a seventh inning shot to the opposite field. His first came against Kentucky in 2022.
- Freshman Devin Taylor his first three career home runs in a weekend series with Morehead State. He hit a pair in the series opener, including a ninth-inning solo home run to tie the game, and followed with one in the series finale. For his efforts, Taylor was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for after posting a 1.712 OPS for the week.

Scouting the Opponent
- Indiana State continues a grueling road swing to start the season, playing its 17th of 20 games away from home to start the year.
- The Sycamores are 3-1 in midweek games this season, including a 7-3 victory in 10 innings at Illinois last Tuesday. ISU swept two midweek games from Southeast Missouri State and dropped a decision at No. 22 Miami (Fla.).
- Keegan Watson posted a team-high .500 batting and a five RBIs last week in three games. Watson his one of four home runs over two games last weekend versus Michigan State.
- Luis Hernandez leads the team with a .290 average, 20 hits13 runs scored and five doubles. He also has eight RBIs in 17 starts.
- Fifteen different Indiana State pitchers have seen time on the mound this year with the Sycamores boasting a team 5.68 ERA and a 172 strikeouts in 163 1/3 innings.
- Indiana State ranks No. 3 in the NCAA and first in the Missouri Valley Conference with a .988 in fielding percentage.
