On the first couple days of spring ball…
TA: I love the energy, I love the effort of the guys, that's obviously a huge focus for everything that we're doing. I thought the offense won the day on Saturday; I thought defense won today. I still have to go back and watch the film just to see for sure. Installation is continuing, so that's always a challenge, you're not trying to worry so much about how it looks in regards to the matchup of the "O" vs. the "D" sometimes. It's about we're onto a new scheme for this day you want to make sure you teach off that. So, I've been doing that obviously both days, we had new things today on both sides of the ball. We've got a lot of new faces out there and I like what I'm seeing, but we've got a lot of work to do.
Â
On getting the new staff members acclimated…
TA: You're right that's a new part, too. You try and get their personalities and how you kind of coach in practice. Some of these guys you hire, you haven't worked with, and you haven't seen them in that setting, but we have a lot of great teachers is what I'm seeing. I think that's really, really critical to be able to build our team and just keep getting better. Our number one goal is to improve our technique and fundamentals, especially up front and in all areas. I like the staff continuity that we have, I think we have a really good chemistry which is obviously a huge part of it but that'll just keep growing too.
Â
On the players' adjustment to the new coaching staff members…
TA: I think even if you see it out today with Matt [Guerrieri]Â here, calling the defense and being in that role, I love his energy. He's an extremely high attention-to-detail guy, he's going to make our whole secondary better, I already feel like we're making progress in that area. I just really love what he brings energy wise. Then on offense, I just think that up front I like what I'm seeing, just the work that Coach [Bob] Bolstad is already doing. It's got a lot more work ahead of us, but I like the start.
