PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After an impressive first round, the Indiana Hoosiers women's golf team is in sixth place after one round of golf in the 2023 Big Ten Women's Golf Championship at the Fox Chapel Golf Club on Friday.

The Hoosiers shot 296 (+12) for the day and sit ahead of No. 45 Purdue (297; +13), No. 43 Michigan (301; +17), and No. 32 Michigan State (302; +18).

CHIP-INS
• Graduate transfer Alexis Florio played the lowest Hoosier scorecard and is tied for 10th in the individual standings after shooting a 1-over 72. She recorded birdies on No. 8, 11, 14, and 15.
• Sophomore Beatriz Junqueira shot a 2-over 73 to open the tournament. She converted birdies on three of the first six holes she played.
• Junior Dominika Burdová sank a team-best six birdie putts, including four on her final eight holes. She finished the day at 4-over 75.
• Senior Valerie Clancy played an up-and-down day with three consecutive birdies on No. 1, 2, and 3 to finish at 5-over 76.
• Sophomore Margaret Fernandez converted third birdie tries to finish the day at 6-over 77.
• Senior Hanna Tanaka went 6-over 77 on the day with a birdie on No. 4.
• Five of the six Hoosiers that teed up in the opening round secured at least three birdies.
