BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – It will be a matchup of the top two teams in the Big Ten as the Indiana baseball program looks to stay atop the conference standings when it hosts a three-game series with Maryland at Bart Kaufman Field. The series begins on Friday (April 28) with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
Indiana (31-11, 9-3 B1G) is riding an eight-game winning streak into the series and has won seven straight weekend series. Maryland (27-15, 8-4 B1G) has won four straight and has not dropped a Big Ten series since April 2021.

- Friday First Pitch: Indiana women's basketball student-athlete Mackenzie Holmes will throw out the first pitch prior to the game.
- Upland Craft Beer Day: Upland Brewing will host a sampling event on the right field terrace for fans over the age of 21 on Saturday (April 29). The event will feature eight different selections and start at Noon and run until 2:30 p.m. Fans wishing to participate must receive a red wristband to enter the right field terrace.
- Saturday is Bark In The Park: Fans are allowed to bring dogs into Bart Kaufman Field. Any fan who brings their dog is required to sign a waiver to allow their dog into the stadium. Waivers will be located and collected at the marketing table.
- Sunday is Baseball Bingo and Kids Run the Bases/Postgame Autographs: Bingo cards are available at the marketing table with prizes from Bucceto's. After the game, all kids 12 and under are invited to come down to the field and run the bases.

Scouting the Opponents
- Maryland enters the weekend in second place in the Big Ten with an 8-4 overall record, just one game back of Indiana's 9-3 mark. Overall, the Terrapins are 27-15, which includes a 13-6 mark in true road games.
- Senior Nick Lorusso leads the Big Ten in RBIs (66) and total bases (123) and is tied for the conference lead in home runs (15), a total that is tied for No. 27 nationally.
- Junior Matt Shaw is tied atop the conference charts with Lorusso at 15 home runs to go along with 45 RBIs and a team-high 14 stolen bases. Shaw's 117 total bases rank No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 21 nationally.
- The starting pitching trio of Nick Dean (2-1), Kyle McCoy (3-5) and Jason Savacool (4-4) have factored into 19 decisions with season with nine victories. Savacool is No. 6 in the Big Ten with 59 strikeouts in 60 innings over a team-best 10 starts.
- In the bullpen, seven different Terrapin relievers have collected saves, led by Dave Falco's six. Only two relievers that have logged more than 15 innings enter with an ERA of under 5.00.
Inside the Series
- Indiana is 13-8 all-time against Maryland, which includes a 12-8 mark in Big Ten Conference contests, since the Terrapins joined the conference in 2014-15.
- The first meeting came in DeLand, Florida, during the 1987 season as part of an early-season southern trip. Indiana won that contest 8-5 and finished its trip with a 9-3 record on the nine-day stay in Florida.
- Neither team has carried much of a winning streak in the series with Indiana's five-game surge between 2017-18 the longest in the series. Maryland preceded that with a four-game streak from 2015-17.
- The two teams played a pair of extra-inning games at the 2022 Big Ten Tournament. Maryland won 6-5 in 11 innings to open the tournament and Indiana knocked the Terrapins out of the event with a 6-4 victory.
- Three of the last five meetings between the two programs have needed extra innings to decide, with 12 of the 21 all-time meetings decided by three-or-fewer runs.
