Indiana Women’s Tennis Hosts Butler and Bellarmine in Season Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's tennis will kick off the spring season with a doubleheader on Monday hosting Butler and Bellarmine at the IU Tennis Center. Indiana's match against Butler will begin at 11 a.m. with Bellarmine at 4 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
• The Hoosiers lead the series against the Butler Bulldogs 15-0 since the 2005-06 season. In the last match up on January 16, 2023, Indiana won 4-0.
• This will be the third time Indiana will face Bellarmine. The Hoosiers are 2-0 all-time against the Knights and won the last match up on January 16, 2023, 4-0.
ABOUT THE HOOSIERS
• Indiana welcomed five true freshmen including one graduate Transfer in Lene Mari Hovda. Hovda brings a lot of experience to the Hoosiers young team.
• IU added five true freshman this season with a couple five start recruit in Elisabeth Dunac and four-star recruit Chase Boyer as well as three athletes Sarah L'allier, Li Hsin Lin and Magdalena Swierczynska who have experience playing in the international circuit.
• Returning at the No. 1 singles spot is redshirt-junior Lara Schneider who finished last season ranked No. 14 in singles and No. 8 in doubles in the Ohio Valley Region alongside her partner Saby Nihalani. Schneider posted a singles record of 13-4 and a doubles record of 10-8.
• Graduate Saby Nihalani returns for her final season with the Hoosiers after posting a 10-7 record in singles along with Sophomore Nicole Teodosescu who held an 8-7 overall record after joining the team in January.
