10/17/2024 6:52:00 PM | Men's Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer (6-3-5, 4-1-2 B1G) has built a three-match winning streak and six-match unbeaten streak (4-0-2) coming into Friday (Oct. 7) night's matchup with Michigan State (5-5-2, 4-2-0 B1G) on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, and tickets are available for purchase here. Fans unable to attend the match can watch on the B1G+ digital platform.
Friday night is staff and faculty appreciation night at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The first 150 IU faculty/staff in attendance will receive a $5 ticket. Additionally, fans who show their ticket for Saturday's IU-Nebraska football game at the Bill Armstrong Stadium ticket windows will receive a $5 ticket for Friday's match.
KICKING OFF
• Indiana has scored multiple goals in each game of its unbeaten run, IU's longest such multi-goal stretch since 2018.
• Points are crucial as Indiana defends its Big Ten regular season championship with only a few games left to play. The Hoosiers currently sit second in the league with 14 points over seven games played (out of 10). Maryland (16 points), Ohio State (13) and Michigan State (12) are also in the fight, each having played six games of their respective conference slates.
• IU returns home to Bill Armstrong Stadium following a 5-0 win at No. 18 Michigan on Tuesday. Graduate forward Justin Weiss became the fifth Hoosier in five games to score a brace.
• Weiss became the third member of IU's roster to eclipse the 20-career goals milestone, joining senior forwards Tommy Mihalic (22) and Samuel Sarver (21). Indiana is one of two NCAA Division I programs (West Virginia) with three active 20-career goal scorers on its roster.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
• Michigan State will be a week removed from a 2-0 win over No. 25 Wisconsin. The Spartans currently sit fourth in the Big Ten with 12 points earned through six conference matches.
• The Spartans are led by 16th-year head coach Damon Rensing, who has compiled a 148-110-46 record during his time in East Lansing.
• Michigan State has scored 11 goals in 12 games, led by junior midfielder Jonathan Stout's four goals.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana has dominated the all-time series with Michigan State, owning a 44-9-5 record against the Spartans. IU won the first 30 meetings between 1974-2002.
• Indiana fell 2-1 in its visit to East Lansing last season thanks to a 77th minute penalty. However, the Hoosiers are unbeaten in home matches against MSU since 2014, with a 3-0-2 record during that span.
• Senior midfielder Patrick McDonald has a goal and an assist in three career games versus Michigan State.
