BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer (3-3-5, 2-1-2 B1G) junior defender Quinton Elliot scored two skillful goals early Friday (Oct. 4) night against Washington (4-2-5, 1-1-3 B1G), highlighting an offensive performance that saw the Hoosiers finish with a 21-11 shot advantage.
However, an 81st-minute Washington equalizer saw the match end in a 2-2 draw, each team taking a point in the Big Ten Conference table. The Hoosiers are now 2-1-2 in league play, earning eight points halfway through the Big Ten slate.
KEY MOMENTS
• 3' – Senior forward Samuel Sarver had a chance to open the scoring three minutes earlier than IU eventually would do so, intercepting a defender's pass with great pressure up the field. Sarver's shot evaded the keeper but carried wide of the post.
• 6' – Starting deep down the right wing, Elliot side-stepped a man, dribbled down the end line, evaded a slide tackle and finished through the keeper's legs to give Indiana an early lead.
• 11' – Senior defender Caden Buckley's long pass forward was dummied, catching the IU defense off guard as it played sophomore forward Charlie Kosakoff onside and into a one-on-one with IU senior goalkeeper JT Harms. Kosakoff finished with his right to level the score.
• 18' – Elliot showed his class again minutes later. After losing the ball to two defenders deep in IU's offensive third, Elliot's counter-pressing was rewarded as the ball fell to him on a deflection in the box. The junior's trivela finish evaded the keeper to the back post, and Indiana reclaimed the lead.
• 41' – Sarver's 20-yard free kick looked bound for the back post, but a diving save pushed it away.
• 57' – Senior midfielder Patrick McDonald saved a shot on goal with a goal-line deflection.
• 57' – Moments later, an incisive pass from Sarver found freshman forward Michael Nesci through on goal. Nesci went down in the box, seemingly from contact behind him, and the keeper smothered the loose ball. The sequence was reviewed but couldn't be overturned.
• 81' – Indiana kept Washington from equalizing for 63 minutes before a ball across goal was put away by Washington junior midfielder Richie Aman's sliding finish.
• 90' – Washington saw a pair of chances hit the woodwork in the second half, in the 51st and 90th minutes.

• Elliot doubled his career scoring output Friday night while scoring his first two goals as a Hoosier. The junior earned his 50th-career appearance.
