Indiana Men’s Tennis wraps up ITA Sectional Championships, Qualifies for NCAA Individual Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ––––– The Indiana Men's Tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the ITA Sectional championship in Tallahassee, Florida.

Jip van Assendelft and Facundo Yunis were the only Hoosiers competing in the ITA Sectional Championship this weekend.

In doubles play, the duo would open their event with a win, taking down Georgia's Freddy Blaydes and Niels Ratiu, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

Facundo Yunis and Jip van Assendelft would continue their success into the quarterfinal round, defeating Alabama's Zach Foster and Adrii Zimnokh in dramatic three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 14-12.

In the semifinal round, the duo would take the win over Mississippi State's Mario Martinez Serrano and Niccolo Baroni, 6-4, 6-4, to become the ITA South Sectional Co-Champions.

With the semifinal round win, Jip van Assendelft and Facundo Yunis qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships, which will take place November 19-23 in Waco, Texas.
