Indiana Men’s Tennis Concludes Play at the Big Ten Individual Championships

MADISON, Wis. ––––– Indiana Men's Tennis concluded play Sunday evening at the Big Ten Individual Championships in Madison, Wisconsin

The event featured a singles and doubles flight, with big ten teams competing against each other.

In singles play, multiple Hoosiers secured wins throughout the weekend. Deacon Thomas secured an early win over Nebraska's Henry Bilicic in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

Thomas would go on to win his next match of the event in dramatic fashion, defeating Northwestern's Chad Miller, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

Freshman Braeden Gelletich would win his first match of the event, defeating Nebraska's Colson Wells, 6-1, 6-2. Gelletich would also win his last singles match of the event, defeating Northwestern's Nick Herdoiza in three sets, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 11-9.

Ben Pomeranets would earn himself a win in the singles flight, besting Northwestern's Carter Pate in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 14-12.

In doubles play, the duo of Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu but together a strong showing throughout the weekend. In their first match, the duo earned a win over Nebraska's Nikolay Sysoev and Henry Bilicic, 6-3.

In their second match, Andre and Antonescu earned their second consecutive win over Purdue's Aleksa Krivokapic and Maj Premzl, 7-6 (7-3), to advance to the semifinal round.

Indiana will be back in action on November 19, when Hoosier duo Jip Van Assendelft and Facundo Yunis will compete in the NCAA Individual Championships.
