WACO, Texas – Sophomore pitcher Connor Foley (W, 1-0) had the best outing of his young career on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon at Baylor Ballpark, pitching six innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball in a 6-1 victory over Baylor.
Despite issuing four walks, Foley was in complete control of the entire contest. He threw a career-high 93 pitches, striking out seven batters while conceding just a lone hit to Baylor's leadoff hitter. Sixth-year senior Ty Bothwell (SV, 1) was awarded the save for his three innings of one-run baseball.
All nine IU starters recorded at least one hit including freshman designated hitter Cal Sefcik who tallied the first hit of his collegiate career. Sophomore outfielder Devin Taylor connected on his first home run of the season; a loud 403-foot shot in the third inning.
Fifth-year senior Morgan Colopy went yard for the third time this season and second time this weekend while redshirt junior catcher Jake Stadler contributed two RBIs in the victory.
The Hoosiers led the entire way on Saturday afternoon and have still yet to trail in the weekend series in Waco. IU will look to slam the door shut on the weekend on Sunday as it goes for its first non-conference true road sweep since 2007.

On the comfort level of the second start…
"It's so much easier to pitch when you have trust in the guys behind you. It's really easy to do my job when you have faith in the defense on the field.
On controlling the game….
"Coach [Dustin] Glant always talks about managing the game and not letting one walk snowball into more. You really got to bare down in those moments and take control of the game. You're going after the hitters. They don't have the ball in their hands. It's yours.
