
No. 13 Indiana Splits Games With UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton

IRVINE, Calif. – No. 13 Indiana posted a convincing win over Cal State Fullerton and fell to No. 13 UC Santa Barbara in action at day two of the 2024 Barbara Kalbus Invite. Indiana improves to 13-2 overall on the 2024 season.

KEY MOMENTS VS. UCSB
- Indiana got off six shot attempts in the first but couldn't get on the board as it faced an early 3-0 deficit. Sophomore Sophia Sollie got Indiana on the board in the second with 3:54 to play but the Gauchos lead was 5-1 at the break.
- Senior Sophie Wazzan combined with Sollie in the third for a pair of Hoosier goals, but UCSB added four more to its tally for a 9-4 edge.
- Sollie completed the hat trick in the fourth quarter while sophomores Louisa Downes and Jasmine Higgs added goals but the Hoosiers fell short in the end.
KEY MOMENTS VS. CAL STATE FULLERTON
- The Hoosiers came out firing against the Titans, opening things up to a 5-0 lead after the first. They were highlighted by two goals from junior Skylar Kidd in the first 10 minutes of action.
- IU's defense allowed just one goal in the first half, as it piled on five more goals as Kidd completed her hat trick midway through the second quarter.
- On the afternoon, nine different Hoosiers tallied a goal on the scoresheet, as freshmen Gwyneth Le and Olivia Harris got in on the action in the fourth quarter.
NOTES
- Sollie led the way with three goals against UCSB
- Four other players each scored one. – Wazzan, Downes, Higgs and senior Zoe Crouch.
- Four other players each recorded an assist vs. the Gauchos.
- Kidd recorded the hat trick for IU against the Titans, leading the way with four goals. She finished with five points in the win, adding an assist and two drawn exclusions in the effort.
- Downes, Sollie and Klingler each chipped in two goals each. Downes tallied four points as she had two assists.
- Klingler had a team-high three steals.
- Nine different players scored against Cal State Fullerton
