Swierczynska’s Comeback Leads Hoosiers Over Cornell, 4-3

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Freshman Magdalena Swierczynska made a huge comeback in No. 6 singles to clinch the winning point over Cornell at the IU Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Swiercyznska split the first two sets with the Big Red before making a huge comeback to win 7-5 for the clinching point. She was down 5-1 in the third set before winning the next six points.
KEY MOMENTS
Doubles partners graduate student Lene Mari Hovda and freshman Elisabeth Dunac won the first doubles match before Cornell took the other two matches to clinch the doubles point to go up 1-0.
After the Hoosiers went down 2-0, Hovda won No. 5 singles in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to keep Indiana in the match as they cut the lead, 2-1.
Dunac tied the match up with a victory in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
Freshman Li Hsin Lin gave the Hoosiers the first lead of the day after winning No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Swiercyznska sealed the win in dramatic fashion after she won the clinching point, 4-3.
