Indiana Falls in Tight Battle to No. 5 Clemson

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Indiana (1-1) lost in a close matchup to No. 5 Clemson (2-0) on the second day of the NFCA Leadoff Classic, 3-2, on Friday night at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
CLEMSON 3, INDIANA 2
KEY MOMENTS
• Redshirt senior Cora Bassett opened the game with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning to put the Hoosiers up 1-0.
• A double to left field from Clemson's Julia Knowler scored two RBIs to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.
• Indiana tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when junior Kinsey Mitchell hit a single to left field to score junior Taylor Minnick.
• Clemson got back in front, 3-2, on a Valerie Cagle single to left field, scoring Alex Brown in the top of the fifth.
• Sophomore Cassidy Kettleman connected with sophomore catcher Avery Parker in the bottom of the fifth, Kettleman threw right on target to Parker who tagged Cagle out at the plate to prevent another Clemson run.

• Cora Bassett had another solid night at the plate, going 2-for-4, her season batting average now stands at .625.
• Sophie Kleiman made her first start of the season in the circle.
