FRISCO, Texas – A large 10-run inning from Arizona was the difference on Sunday (March 3) afternoon at Riders Field. The Indiana Baseball team (7-4) was run-ruled for a second time this weekend in a seven-inning shortened contest, 12-1.
The Hoosiers struck early with redshirt senior outfielder Morgan Colopy driving in sophomore shortstop Tyler Cerny on an RBI single. However, Arizona responded with 11 unanswered runs including a big 10 spot in the top half of the fourth inning. A massive three-run double off the wall from Easton Breyfogle opened up an insurmountable gap for IU.
After playing the first three weekends on the road, IU returns to the friendly confines of Bart Kaufman Field for 15 of its next 18 contests. The Hoosiers meet Northern Kentucky on Tuesday and a three-game set against Troy from Friday through Sunday.

On planning to go right to [Grant] Holderfield…
"Yeah, they hit a couple hundred points worse versus lefties and struggled against the slider. We thought we had a pretty good matchup. Ethan [Phillips] has struggled to go through the order the second time. We had to go a little earlier than expected to Holderfield. He was good last week against Baylor and he just didn't go as according to plan."
On balancing concern vs. positives in a weekend like this….
"It's early and you're traveling and playing. A year ago, we went down to East Carolina and had a similar result. It's the end of a long trip. You're still trying to figure out where guys' roles fit and who fits where. Sometimes you just get beat. I think they've lost five games to really good teams by seven runs. You knew you had a good team and they're not just going to not play or not show up. We were kind of in the way to today."
