Hoosiers Take Down Bowling Green on Day One of Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– Indiana opened the home slate of the 2024 season with a 7-3 win over Bowling Green on Friday night at Andy Mohr Field.
With the win, the Hoosiers improve their season record to 12-4.

KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Brianna Copeland opened the scoring for the Hoosiers, she scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning.
• Sophomore Avery Parker hit an RBI single to shortstop, scoring two runs to build Indiana's lead to 3-0.
• Bowling Green's Reagan Williamson singled in the top of the third, when rounding first and going to second junior Taylor Minnick threw out Williamson at second to end the half inning.
• In the bottom of the third inning, Minnick hit a home run to right center to extend Indiana's lead to 4-0.
• Bowling Green would score two runs in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 4-2 game.
• Senior Brooke Benson hit a hard double out to left field and scored freshman Alex Cooper in the process to make the lead 5-2.
• In the next at-bat, redshirt senior Cora Bassett laced a line drive down the left field line for an inside the park home run to score her and Benson.
• Indiana ended the game on a double play ––– Macy Montgomery threw to Brooke Benson, who connected with junior Sarah Stone to secure the win.
NOTABLES
• Seven different Hoosiers recorded a run: Cora Bassett, Brianna Copeland, Taylor Minnick, Sarah Stone, Aly VanBrandt, Alex Cooper and Brooke Benson.
• Bassett and Avery Parker both recorded two RBIs for the Hoosiers. Minnick and Benson each had one.
• Six Hoosiers had a stolen base.
• Sophie Kleinman is now 4-0 in the circle on the season.
• The Hoosiers led for the entirety of the game.
