Kim Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award Semifinalist

FAIRFAX, Va. – Indiana women's soccer sophomore midfielder Natasha Kim was announced as a semifinalist for the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar award.
This award is sponsored by the Diverse: Issues In Higher Education to honor students of color who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. It is inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe, Jr.'s commitment to education as well as his love for the game of tennis, U.S. colleges and universities are invited to participate in this annual awards program by nominating their outstanding sports scholars. In addition to their athletic ability and academic performance, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership.
Kim is studying Finance with a co-major in Business Analytics and a minor in Psychology. She has been recognized by the Indiana athletic department with the Academic Excellence Award for three semesters while earning Academic All-Big Ten and CSC Academic All-District Team honors over the past two seasons.
The Summit, N.J., native, has also shows her commitment to diversity and inclusion though volunteer work with the local YMCA as a Hoosiers for Good athlete. She also serves on the Student Athletic Association Committee (SACC), the Athletic Director's Council on Diversity and Inclusion and EverybodyPlays organization.
On the field, Kim has played in 37 matches with 27 starts on her career. She has played 2276 minutes on the pitch with one goal, one assist and 18 shots. Kim helped lead the Hoosiers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013 with a 12-4-4 overall record.
The edition is part of our decades-long tradition of recognizing outstanding, young minority men and women who have distinguished themselves in their academic and athletic pursuits.
To be eligible for the award, those named 2024 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars are students of color who have maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, are at least sophomores academically, and have been active on their campuses or in their communities. Of the nearly 600 scholar-athletes nominated, one male and one female athlete will be selected as Sports Scholar of the Year.
The finalists will be published on April 25, 2024.
