
Productivity Powers Hoosiers on Final Day of We Fly Challenge

MUNCIE, Ind. – Indiana track and field had a productive final day at Ball State's We Fly Challenge on Saturday. The Hoosiers won 10 event titles while setting 16 season and five personal bests times.
"We are very appreciative of Coach Wheatley and his staff for allowing us to attend this meet after travel cancelations prevented us from traveling to Florida this weekend," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Ed Beathea said. "This was a very productive meet for us and will set us up greatly for our meet in Kentucky next weekend."
The men's Hammer throw started the day off for the Hoosiers. Sean Mockler won the event with a season best mark of 65.31m/214-3.
In the jumps, Alex Smith placed second in the Long Jump with a season best mark of 7.39m/24-3.
Serena Bolden won the Long Jump title on the women's side with a season best performance of 6.14m/20-1.75 while teammate Kelly Moran placed seventh.
The Hoosiers swept the women's Triple Jump with Mahogany Jenkins taking the win with another season best performance for the Hoosiers (12.75m/41-10). Bolden finished second (12.57m/41-3) with a season best and Kelly Moran third (11.68m/38-3.75) in her first triple jump performance of the season.
Kenisha Phillips had a strong day after she claimed two event titles for IU in the 200- and 400-meter sprints.
Micah Camble and Ryann Parrish swept the 400m Hurdle events. Camble won with a season best time of 51.72. Parrish set a personal best time of 1:01.92.
Antonio Laidler and Trelee Banks went one and three in the 100m. Laidler also led another sweep for the Hoosiers in the 200m with a personal best and season best time of 20.56. Otto De St Jeor (second), Novo Onovwerosuoke (third) and Banks (fourth) all contributed season best times.
Indiana posted season best times in the men's and women's 4x100 relays to finish first and second.
Up next, Indiana will head to Lexington, Kent. for the Jim Green Invitational on April 19-20.
