Indiana Softball to Host Notre Dame and Purdue for Midweek Games

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Softball is slated to host two midweek opponents this week at Andy Mohr Field.
On Tuesday, Indiana will host Notre Dame for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch with Wednesday being a home doubleheader against Purdue, starting game one at 5:00 p.m. and game two will be a 7:30 p.m. first pitch.

QUICK HITTERS:
- Freshman Aly VanBrandt and junior Taylor Minnick both had standout weekends against Minnesota. VanBrandt went 6-for-9 at the plate with two RBI and Minnick was 7-for-11 hitting with four RBI and two key home runs.
- The home stretch of the season is upon us as just three Big Ten series and the Purdue doubleheader remain in conference play along with two non-conference midweek games (including Notre Dame).
- Six different Hoosiers in the lineup have posted 20-plus RBI on the season, including Taylor Minnick (42), Sarah Stone (33), Avery Parker (31), Brianna Copeland (26), Cora Bassett (24), and Alex Cooper (20).
- Indiana leads the Big Ten in home runs (48) and stolen bases (91).
- Three Hoosiers are hitting .350 or better from the plate: Aly VanBrandt (.390), Taylor Minnick (.386) and Brianna Copeland (.354).
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana is coming off an excellent weekend, defeating Minnesota in all three games, collecting a sweep in Bloomington.
- In the second game of the series, Indiana had an excellent showing, winning 15-2 in five innings. The Hoosiers put up 16 hits and eight different players recording an RBI in the game.
- Sophomore Sophie Kleiman had a fantastic day in the circle, throwing a complete game and not allowing a hit until the fifth inning. Kleiman threw five strikeouts and only allowed two hits.
- Sunday was very exciting with Indiana winning 5-4 to close out the series. The game was tied at 4-4 entering the seventh inning. In the first at-bat of the bottom of the seventh, junior Taylor Minnick hit a walk-off home run to secure the victory.
- Minnick had a 3-for-3 day at the plate, hitting two home runs with a career-high four runs scored.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Notre Dame currently owns a 23-17 record and 7-11 mark in ACC play heading into the Tuesday midweek game. The Fighting Irish are coming off a sweep, losing all three games at Florida State.
- The Irish own notable wins over No. 20 Utah, a sweep over N.C. State, a win at North Carolina and a neutral site win against Liberty, who was receiving votes at the time.
- As a team, Notre Dame owns a .300 batting average and 4.49 ERA. Carli Kloss is hitting .365 to lead the Irish with 20 RBI. Addison Amaral is hitting .339 while leading in RBI (40) and tied for the most home runs (7).
- Purdue enters the midweek doubleheader with a 20-19 record and a 7-5 conference mark. They most recently took two of three games in their weekend series at Illinois.
- Purdue has four batters who are hitting .340 or better with a team ERA of 3.80. Khloe Banks is a .364 hitter with six doubles and 15 RBI.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Notre Dame leads the all-time series against Indiana, 11-10.
- Indiana leads the all-time series against Purdue, 42-41. The Hoosiers have six in a row in the series.
