Indiana Softball to Face Iowa for Road Series

IOWA CITY, Iowa –––– Indiana Softball will head west for their next series of Big Ten play, going up against Iowa for a three-game set.
The Hoosiers enter the series as winners of eight of their last nine games.
QUICK HITTERS:
Iowa enters the weekend with a 16-18 record and 4-8 mark in conference play, taking Big Ten wins over Wisconsin and Michigan State.
The Hawkeyes are coming off getting swept at Michigan and were supposed to play Iowa State in a midweek, but that was postponed.
Iowa opened the season at the same tournament as Indiana, the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla., but the two teams did not meet then.
In the circle, Iowa mainly throws four different arms for a team ERA of 2.85. Jalen Adams is their go-to. She has a 2.45 ERA, 44 strikeouts and a 9-9 record in 20 appearances and 18 starts.
As a team, Iowa hits for a .264 average. Rylie Moss leads the team with a .384 batting average. Soo-Jin Berry leads the team with 25 RBI while hitting .324 at the plate.

- Alex Cooper had a career day against Notre Dame in Tuesday's midweek game. The freshman had two home runs, including a walk-off grand slam to secure a 5-3 Indiana win.
- The home stretch of the season is upon us as just three Big Ten series and one non-conference midweek trip to Butler remain in the regular season schedule.
- Six different Hoosiers in the lineup have posted 20-plus RBI on the season, including Taylor Minnick (43), Sarah Stone (36), Avery Parker (34), Brianna Copeland (26), Alex Cooper (25), and Cora Bassett (24).
- Indiana leads the Big Ten in home runs (53) and stolen bases (96).
- Three Hoosiers are hitting .340 or better from the plate: Aly VanBrandt (.376), Taylor Minnick (.365) and Brianna Copeland (.345).
- Indiana took two of its three midweek games for wins. The Hoosiers defeated Notre Dame, 5-3, and won in the first game of the Purdue doubleheader, 5-1, but lost in a close second game to the Boilermakers, 6-5.
- In the Notre Dame game, freshman Alex Cooper was the hero, hitting two home runs for the game to contribute all five RBI for the team, including the walk-off grand slam. After giving up three early runs, Indiana's defense and pitchers Sophie Kleiman and Macy Montgomery kept the Irish's offense in check, as well.
- In the Purdue doubleheader, sophomore Avery Parker and junior Sarah Stone helped light up the offense, with each of them going yard. Parker had two home runs in the second game, both were opposite field. Stone's home run was a two-run shot in the same game.
- In the first game, Purdue was held to only two hits as Brianna Copeland pitched a complete game.
- Indiana has now won seven of the last eight over the Boilers.
