Indiana Softball to Play Midweek Game at Butler

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Softball is set to play a Wednesday game at Butler with a 4 p.m. first pitch in Indianapolis.
The Hoosiers enter the game as winners of 11 of their last 12 games.

- Freshman Alex Cooper won Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week for the week of April 15-21. Cooper had the best game of her young career against Notre Dame, hitting two home runs, including a walk-off grand slam to beat Notre Dame on Tuesday, April 16.
- Seven different Hoosiers in the lineup have posted 20-plus RBI on the season, including Taylor Minnick (47), Sarah Stone (39), Avery Parker (37), Brianna Copeland (28), Alex Cooper (26), Cora Bassett (26) and Brooke Benson (21).
- Indiana leads the Big Ten in home runs (58) and stolen bases (106).
- Three Hoosiers are hitting .340 or better from the plate: Taylor Minnick (.380), Aly VanBrandt (.378) and Brianna Copeland (.340).
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana enters their game at Butler as winners of 11 of their last 12 games. The Hoosiers swept Iowa this last weekend in dominant fashion, defeating them 8-0, 9-1 and 7-3 throughout the weekend.
- Indiana has now swept their conference opponents in their last three Big Ten series weekends (Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan State).
- Junior Taylor Minnick had a fantastic showing in Iowa City. Minnick's bat was red hot right away as she went 4-for-4 on Friday and Saturday with two home runs and four RBI. On Sunday, she went 0-1, but drew a career high four walks in the game. She drew eight total walks over the course of the weekend.
- Sophomore Sophie Kleiman had an excellent weekend in the circle, making two appearances and picking up two wins while only allowing six hits and one earned run. She had five strikeouts, a 0.58 ERA and held opposing batters to a .140 average throughout the weekend.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Butler has a 20-25 record 9-12 conference mark in Big East play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-2 weekend where they took one game against Creighton on the Friday night of the series.
- The game against Indiana will be Butler's last home game of the season before they travel to face Villanova in their final Big East series of the season from May 3-5.
- As a team, the Bulldogs are hitting .267 at the plate with Ella White and Paige Dorsett leading the way. White is a .338 hitter while Dorsett has a .336 mark. White has hit eight home runs and 38 RBI while Dorsett has five home runs and 25 RBI to her name this season.
- Katie Petran is the team's pitching staff, owning a 13-6 record with 149.1 innings of work. She has thrown 89 strikeouts and has a 4.28 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Indiana leads the all-time series against Butler, 12-3-1.
- Last year when the two teams met, Indiana won 9-1 in five innings in Bloomington.
