Indiana Second Varsity Eight Named Big Ten Boat of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana's Second Varsity Eight crew earned Big Ten Boat of the Week honors after helping IU win its seventh-straight Dale England Cup Championship, the conference office announced Tuesday (April 30).

Indiana's 2V8 had the largest margin of victory in the program's sweep of Michigan State on Saturday (April 27), finishing in a time of 6:59.3 and 17.2 seconds ahead of the Spartans. The crew improved its head-to-head record to 15-8 heading into the Big Ten Championships on May 19.

Indiana earned its second Big Ten Boat of the Week honor of the season – the Hoosier Varsity Eight won the award April 9.

IU's 2V8 boat included junior coxswain Lilly Gintert, senior Sofia Sperduto, freshman Maddison Shanks, junior Lily Haupt, junior Phoebe Inall, senior Niamh Monk, junior Clare Hunsberger, freshman Lilly Murphy and sophomore Caroline Schrieber.
