BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 12-ranked Indiana rowing advanced all three boats to C finals Saturday (June 1) at the 2024 NCAA Rowing Championships, winning two C/D semifinals at East Fork State Park in Bethel, Ohio.
Indiana's crews can finish as high as No. 13 nationally from their finals Sunday, the last day of racing at the national regatta. The V4 will race at 8:24 a.m. ET, the 2V8 at 8:48 a.m. and the V8 at 9:04 a.m.
IU's Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight crews won their C/D semis by open water, leading the entire way. The Hoosier V8 posted a time of 6:26.943, four seconds faster than second place Duke a the five-team field. Indiana led by one second through the first 500 meters but gradually created separation to cruise into the C final. In the 2V8 race, the Hoosiers opened with a strong first 500 meters to lead by three seconds over the field and would hold off the competition for the next 1,500.
Indiana started behind both Ohio State and Boston University through the first 500 of its V4 semifinal but passed the Terriers in the next 500 to enter a race for first with Ohio State. The Buckeyes held their ground as both crews punched their tickets to the C final.
