2024 Indiana Wrestling Signing Class
Indiana has seven freshmen who joined the team this fall in Chris Crawford, Ryan Garvick, Sam Goin, Matt Hart, Chase Leech, Caleb Marzolino, Nick Pavlechko and Lucas Peters.
The incoming class was ranked at No. 14 nationally of the 2024 recruiting cycle by InterMat. This is Indiana's highest ranked recruiting class in the Angel Escobedo era as head coach.
Indiana's recruiting class ranked ahead of Oklahoma State (16), Cornell (18), Nebraska (19) and Arizona State (23), among others. It was also slotted just one spot behind Iowa who was at No. 13.
Seven of the eight incoming freshmen were ranked in the MatScouts’ Senior Big Board which charts the top 250 recruits in the country.
The class features wrestlers from six different states, including two in-state Hoosiers, three from Pennsylvania and one from Illinois, Ohio, New York and Wisconsin.

Marzolino graduated from Abington Heights High School in Waverly, Pa. and wrestled under coach Greg Theony. He wrestled club for the Mat Assassins Wrestling Club.
He was a three-time PIAA state qualifier at Abington Heights and one-time PIAA state runner-up. He went 128-16 in his high school career. He also was a Fargo All-American.
His high-achieving career earned him status of being the No. 127 ranked prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts.
Marzolino will major in Business Management.

Leech, an in-state recruit, graduated from Garrett High School in Garrett, Ind. where he wrestled under coach Nick Kraus.
In his high school career, Leech compiled 134 wins and 76 pins, going 46-2 in his senior season at Garrett. He also won a 2024 IHSAA state championship at 175 lbs.
Leech will major in Marketing.
Why IU: “I chose IU because I felt that it was an excellent place to maximize my potential in wrestling and my academics.”

Crawford, a Beacon, N.Y. native graduated from Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School in Pennsylvania. He wrestled for high school coaches Cornell Robinson and Will Weber, and wrestled club for KD Training Center.
Crawford went 25-7 as a junior at Wyoming Seminary with 10 wins by fall. He took second at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Wrestling State Championships and his team won the National Prep Wrestling Championships twice in his high school career (2022, 2024).
Crawford is part of the 100-win club and was ranked the No. 148 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts.
He currently is undecided on a major.
Why IU: “There is no better place to be.”

Peters graduated from Kaukauna High School in Kaukauna, Wis. where he wrestled for coach Jeff Matczak and wrestled club at the Askren Wrestling Academy.
At Kaukauna, he went 165-12 and was named the Fox Valley Association Conference Wrestler of the Year. He also was a three-time freestyle state champion, a folkstyle state champion and four-time Greco-Roman state runner-up. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Team three times, as well.
At Kaukauna, he was a part of four Division 1 Wisconsin State Championship teams.
Peters was ranked as the No. 191 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts.
He will major in Journalism.
Why IU: "I chose IU because the coaches here truly care about their athletes, on and off the mat and they have the experience and knowledge to help me excel."

Hart graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio. He wrestled for high school coaches Dave Habat and Rex Kendle while wrestling club for coach Todd Haverdill. Hart sported a 108-21 record in his prep career.
In high school, Hart earned PIT champion and Prep Slam champion titles. He also earned All-American status seven times: National Preps (2nd, 6th), 2023 Ironman (7th), NHSCA (2nd), 2023 Escape The Rock (6th), 2023 Fall Grappler Classic (3rd), 2023 Kansas City Stampede (4th). He also was a 2024 Freestyle State Duals champion.
Hart was ranked as the No. 138 ranked prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts and the No. 14 ranked wrestler at 138 lbs. by FloWrestling.
The All-American is the No. 138 ranked overall prospect nationally (MatScouts), and the No.14 ranked prospect at 138 lbs.
He will major in Entrepreneurship.
Why IU: “IU has an outstanding academic reputation and an excellent student-athlete culture. I believe in the direction of the wrestling program and am excited to be a part of it."

Pavlechko wrestled for coach Ryan Cummins and graduated from State College Area High School in State College, Pa.
Under Cummins, Pavlechko went 107-12 and was a three-time Pennsylvania state placer where he earned third place twice and second place once. He was also a three-time district and regional champion.
Pavlechko wrestled club for M2 Training Center. His prep accolades include being a 2023 Powerade champion, third place at Ironman, a three-time Escape The Rock placer as well as being a 2022 and 2024 Escape The Rock champion. He is a Fargo All-American, taking fifth place and was an age group World Team Trials placer.
Pavlechko was ranked as the No. 96 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts and was the No. 11 ranked prospect at 285 lbs. by FloWrestling.
He will major in Sports Marketing and Management.
Why IU: “I chose IU because of the amazing coaches and growing program. I want to be a part of that.”

Garvick graduated from Central Dauphin High School in Dauphin, Pa. He wrestled for high school coach Jeff Sweiguard and wrestled club for Team Nauman. He recorded a 162-19 high school record and won 89 matches by fall.
He was a three-time PIAA state runner-up, taking second place from 2022-24 at both 152 and 160 lbs. His team took third place at the state championships in 2023 and second in 2021.
Garvick was ranked as the No. 150 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by MatScouts and the No. 11 ranked wrestler at 165 lbs. by FloWrestling.
He will major in Exercise Science.
Why IU: “I really liked the coaching staff and Coach (Riley) Lefever interacted with me on a much more personal level than anyone else during my recruiting process. I also thought campus was beautiful and I had a lot of fun on my visit."

Goin, an in-state recruit, hails from Crown Point, Ind. He graduated from Crown Point High School in 2023 where he wrestled for coach Brandon Lorek.
His decorated high school career includes being a two-time individual IHSAA State Champion in 2023 and 2024 while also being a four-time placer. He also won three team state titles with Crown Point (2021, 2023, 2024).
Goin was the Indiana recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2023. The award is given out annually to the standout male high school wrestler who exemplifies scholastic excellence, citizenship and community service. The award is selected by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
He was ranked as the No. 59 ranked prospect in the class of 2023 by MatScouts.
Goin will major in Business.
