BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The biggest challenge, to date, awaits the Indiana Volleyball team (3-0, 0-0) in Austin, Texas this weekend. Head coach Steve Aird will take his team down to the Lone Star State to play two-time defending national champions Texas, followed by a rematch with perennial tournament team Miami (Fla.).
IU got off to a great start, taking down a trio of strong opponents on opening weekend. The Hoosiers swept Kennesaw State before finishing off Wichita State in five sets on Saturday afternoon. A fourth-set comeback helped IU past UC Davis in the home opener at Wilkinson Hall on Monday (Sept. 2).
Junior opposite hitter Avry Tatum put up 46 kills (3.83 p/s) across the first three matches including an 18-kill effort in a back-and-forth affair against Wichita State. She scored the final two points in a win over UC Davis, closing out her birthday in style.
Thursday's game against Texas will be the 15th match against the nation's number one team in program history. It will be the first contest played against a team outside of the Big Ten. The Hoosiers met No. 1 Wisconsin in September of 2023 and have met four different teams with the number one ranking.
In the final game of IU's stay in Austin, it will meet Miami (Fla.) for a second-straight season. The Hoosiers went on the road last year and beat Miami in a raucous five-set affair. Tatum had 17 kills including the match-winning point of a big victory against ACC competition last season.
Senior setter Camryn Haworth is set to make her 100th career appearance as play begins on Thursday. She also just needs seven assists to become the eighth player in program history to reach the 3,000-assist threshold. The Fishers, Ind. native has made 68-consecutive starts as the team's setter.
SEC Network will play host to Texas and Indiana on Thursday evening, the first game to feature on the network in program history. The Longhorns are set to unveil their 2023 NCAA Championship banner as they open the home portion of their season at Gregory Gym.

Player and Stat Trends
Haworth Watch
• All eyes will be on senior setter Camryn Haworth this season as she climbs up the all-time lists of many Indiana volleyball records. Not only that, but she will bring stability and consistency to IU's offense in 2024. Her first milestone she's approaching is 3,000 assists. She's just seven away and is likely to hit that during that on Thursday evening. She would be the eighth player in program history to hit the mark.
• The ultimate countdown is to the all-time service aces mark. She holds the tally during the rally-era but is 27 away from breaking the program's all-time mark. Jen Magelssen (197) holds that mark from her playing days in 1995-98. Haworth has had at least 40 aces in all three of her college seasons so far.
