Indiana Men’s Tennis Opens 2025 Season with Cleveland State and Ball State.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– Indiana Men's Tennis is set to kick off the 2025 spring season this weekend with a double-header of home matches against Cleveland State and Ball State on Saturday, January 18, at the IU Tennis Center
The day will begin with the match versus Cleveland State at 11 a.m., followed by the match against Ball State at 4 p.m.
The Hoosiers enter the 2025 season with plenty of new faces along with multiple returning members of last year's team.
IU only boasts one senior this year, Michael Andre, who returns to the team for his fifth year.
Juniors Deacon Thomas and Luc Boulier return from last year's squad with another year of experience beneath them. Jip van Assendelft will also be competing in his first spring season with the Hoosiers after joining the team in the fall.
Another junior, Sam Scherer, joins the Hoosiers after spending his first two seasons with Tulane.
Indiana's sophomore class includes returning players Nikola Kolyachev and redshirt-sophomore Facundo Yunis.
Ben Pomeranets joins the Hoosiers sophomore class after playing his freshman campaign Virginia Tech. Pomeranets appeared in 13 matches with the Hokies, playing between the No. 4-6 spots.
The Hoosiers freshman class includes Matteo Antonescu, Braeden Gelletich, and Karan Raghavendra. Aidan Atwood also joins the freshman class as a transfer from Georgia.
Indiana has lots of momentum built up from the fall schedule, headlined by duo Jip van Assendelft and Facundo Yunis qualifying for the NCAA Doubles Championships and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.
Looking to Saturday, Indiana will face a Cleveland State team that finished 21-7 and 8-0 in conference play in their 2024 campaign, and a Ball State team that posted a 12-10 record last season.
