Indiana to Host Butler & Southern Indiana for Midweek Games

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Just two days after going 5-0 in the Hoosier Classic, Indiana is set to continue their homestretch at Andy Mohr Field with a Tuesday evening game against Butler and a Wednesday afternoon game against Southern Indiana.

- Team 52 enters the weekend on a five-game winning streak after going 5-0 at the Hoosier Classic with five run rules to put the season record at 17-5.
- Indiana returns six of its nine starters in the field from 2024 with a plethora of new talent coming in, including eight new freshmen and two transfer from Power-4 schools.
- Melina Wilkison, a redshirt junior outfielder from Greensburg, Ind. joins the Hoosiers after spending three seasons at Ohio State. Wilkison was a two-year starter for the Buckeyes, including being an NFCA All-Region and All-Big Ten performer in 2023. She missed almost all of 2024 due to injury.
- The eight freshmen make up the No. 28 ranked recruiting class on Extra Innings Softball for the class of 2024.
- Brianna Copeland, Taylor Minnick and Avery Parker were all named to the Big Ten's preseason Players to Watch List.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana had an excellent showing in last weekend's Hoosier Classic, going 5-0 with two wins over Bowling Green and a win over IU Indy, Western Michigan and UIC.
- The Hoosiers won each game by run rule to bring their season count up to 11 wins by run rule.
- In the weekend opening win over IU Indy, freshman Jasmine Reyes had a standout performance in the 14-0 Indiana win. Reyes threw a complete game no-hitter as she had four strikeouts and two walks in 5.0 innings of work.
- Brianna Copeland was excellent in the circle for the Hoosiers all weekend, picking up a win, charting 15 strikeouts, a 1.75 ERA in her two appearances and only allowing five hits and two earned runs in 8.0 innings.
- Avery Parker had a standout weekend at the plate, hitting .667 with two doubles, two home runs (including a grand slam) and 14 RBI.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
- Butler's season is off to a strong start as the Bulldogs own a 14-5 record and have won three games in a row. The Bulldogs opened Big East play with a sweep over DePaul this past weekend at home.
- Outside of a 2-4 weekend in the Make It Happen Games (Madeira Beach), Butler has been really strong all season. They opened with a 4-1 showing at the Rosemont Dome Tournament and then went undefeated at Evansville's Aces Tournament and Murry State's Velvet Milkman Classic.
- Southern Indiana owns a 4-13 record to start the 2025 campaign with a 1-2 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Screaming Eagles went 1-2 at home in their OVC opening series against Western Illinois at home this last weekend.
- Southern Indiana and Butler were originally scheduled to play each other in Evansville's Softball Classic on Feb. 15, but the game got canceled due to inclement weather.
SERIES HISTORY NOTES:
- Indiana owns a 13-3-1 record against Butler with two-straight wins over the Bulldogs in 2023 and 2024. The Hoosiers have never played against Southern Indiana before in its program history.
