SERIES HISTORY:
The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes will face off on Saturday (March 15) at 6 p.m. and Sunday (March 16) at 1 p.m. in Bloomington.
Indiana enters the weekend with a 19-5 record and winners of seven straight games.
QUICK HITTERS:
- Team 52 holds a 19-5 record entering conference play with their first five conference games of the season coming at home.
- Indiana leads the nation in batting average, hitting .402 at the plate, as of their last game against Southern Indiana (March 12).
- Melina Wilkison, a redshirt junior outfielder from Greensburg, Ind. joins the Hoosiers after spending three seasons at Ohio State. Wilkison was a two-year starter for the Buckeyes, including being an NFCA All-Region and All-Big Ten performer in 2023. She missed almost all of 2024 due to injury.
- Indiana has won seven games in a row at home, including six run rules.
- Brianna Copeland, Taylor Minnick and Avery Parker were all named to the Big Ten's preseason Players to Watch List.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana already has a 2-0 start in games this week after defeating Butler, 13-0, in five innings on Tuesday and winning 6-5 over Southern Indiana on Wednesday at Andy Mohr Field.
- The Hoosiers dominated Butler from start to finish, attaining an 8-0 advantage early in the game thanks to a 3-run home run from Avery Parker and Sydni Burko's first career home run.
- Brianna Copeland pitched the entire game, going 5.0 innings, striking out eight batters and allowing no runs and five hits.
- Taylor Minnick was the hero in Indiana's win over Southern Indiana. The Hoosiers trailed 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning before Minnick came up to bat.
- With the bases loaded, Minnick crushed a grand slam over the center field wall to secure a 6-5 edge for the Hoosiers. Indiana's defense quickly got three outs in the top of the seventh and that was the game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Iowa is off to a 16-8 start to the 2025 season and will also be opening their Big Ten portion of the schedule this weekend.
- The Hawkeyes are coming into the weekend set as winners of their last two, as they defeated St. Thomas (Minn.) twice on Wednesday (March 12).
- Iowa went undefeated at both the Lion Invitational (Feb. 14-16) and FIU Panther Invitational (Feb. 21-23) to rack up nine-straight wins in February.
- While this is Iowa's start to Big Ten play, they do own a win over a Big Ten opponent in Illinois. In the 2025 Wooo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Ark., Iowa defeated Illinois, 3-1, (March 2) but it counts as a non-conference game.
- On March 7, Iowa announced that assistant coach Karl Gollan will lead the program for the remainder of the season as interim head coach Brian Levin is no longer with the program.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Iowa leads the all-time series between the two programs, 65-46, but the Hoosiers have won the last four. Indiana swept Iowa in Iowa City in 2024.
