Indiana Softball to Host Ball State for Midweek Matchup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Softball returns home to Andy Mohr Field for their first conference home game since April 7 for a Wednesday game against Ball State.
The Hoosiers enter the game with a 29-13 record and 8-8 mark in the Big Ten.

- Indiana leads the nation in three statistical categories: batting average (.382), doubles per game (2.14) and on base percentage (.472).
- Indiana is in the home stretch of the regular season as there are two weekends of play left and seven total games remaining ahead of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Four Hoosiers have a .400 or better batting average. Taylor Minnick (.500), Madalyn Strader (.448), Avery Parker (.426) and Kinsey Mitchell (.400) all are hitting the mark.

- Indiana played in an exhilarating two-game series at No. 22 Nebraska last weekend with the Hoosiers and Cornhuskers splitting the two games.
- Indiana took game one on Friday with a 6-2 win and dropped the Saturday contest in five innings, 12-4.
- In the Friday win, Indiana trailed 2-1 after five innings before using a four-run sixth inning to pull ahead and take the momentum of the game.
- Jenae Berry and Brianna Copeland both threw in the circle for the Hoosiers and the duo combined to only allow four hits and two runs.
- It was Indiana's second ranked win of the season with the first coming at No. 18 Ohio State (March 31).
- In game one, Taylor Minnick tied the program's all-time career (54) and season doubles record (19).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Ball State has put together an impressive season with a 28-11 overall record and 13-5 mark in the MAC.
- The Cardinals are on a four-game winning streak with two wins over Miami (OH) and Western Michigan in the last ten days.
- Ball State will have had a week off by the time they play Indiana on Wednesday night in Bloomington. The Cardinals had an off weekend after defeating Western Michigan in a doubleheader on April 16.
- Indiana will be the first high major team that Ball State has faced this season.
- McKayla Timmons leads Ball State at the plate with a .462 batting average with 13 home runs and 48 RBI.
- Ella Whitney has been the Cardinals' ace all season, sporting a 2.55 ERA and 17-4 record along with 68 strikeouts on the season.
SERIES HISTORY NOTES:
- Indiana leads the all-time series against Ball State, 43-34. Indiana has won two of the last three games in the series, but this will be the first matchup between the two programs since 2016.
