Indiana to Host Louisville for Midweek Matchup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Softball is back in action for a Wednesday night matchup against Louisville at 6 p.m. at Andy Mohr Field after from a home series sweep over Maryland (April 6-7).
The Hoosiers have won four games in a row to put their season record at 26-10 and 6-5 in the Big Ten.

- Indiana leads the nation in three statistical categories: batting average (.382), doubles per game (2.17) and on base percentage (.473).
- Indiana has won four games in a row with the streak starting with a 13-7 win at No. 18 Ohio State (March 31).
- Indiana is entering the home stretch of the regular season as there are four weekends of play left and 13 total games remaining ahead of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Three Hoosiers have a .400 or better batting average. Taylor Minnick (.500), Avery Parker (.427), Aly VanBrandt (.408) and Madalyn Strader (.406) all are hitting the mark.
- Brianna Copeland is leading the team's pitching staff in strikeouts with 104 in 26 appearances. Copeland also has a 10-4 record in the circle with a 4.93 ERA.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana earned a wild series sweep over Maryland this past weekend. Due to inclement weather, the series did not start until Sunday and then finished out with a doubleheader on Monday.
- In the first game, Indiana trailed 8-4 before pausing the game due to a heavy downpour of rain. When the game resumed, the Hoosiers added one run to make it 8-5 before the offense exploded for a 15-run inning in the fourth to pull ahead 20-8, prior to a 20-10 final finish.
- In the last two games of the series, Indiana prevented Maryland from scoring many runs. The pitching and the defense held on strong to lead Indiana to a 2-0 win to start the day and a 6-3 final to close it.
- Both Jenae Berry and Brianna Copeland pitched complete games and earned wins in those two outings. Berry held Maryland to just four hits in the first game and Copeland struck out nine batters in the second.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Louisville enters the Wednesday matchup with a 20-16 record and a 3-9 showing in ACC play. The Cardinals are on a four-game losing streak after dropping all four games at Duke in their last series.
- The Cardinals' ACC wins come from two home games against Notre Dame and a road win at North Carolina.
- They have done well this season against Big Ten opponents, going 5-2 against them in non-conference tournaments. Louisville has defeated Rutgers, Minnesota twice, Michigan and Wisconsin. They have a loss to Wisconsin and one to Purdue.
- Louisville owns one ranked win on the season, defeating No. 25 FAU on the road in FAU's Tournament (Feb. 16).
- The Cardinals top the ACC in total stolen bases (78), stolen bases per game (2.17), total sacrifice bunts (29), and triples per game (0.56).
SERIES HISTORY NOTES:
- Louisville leads the all-time series against Indiana, 20-7. The Hoosiers have owned the recent stretch, though, winning four in a row over them, dating back to 2023.
