No. 4 Indiana Resumes Road Run at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Conference play continues for Indiana men's soccer with a second consecutive road contest following a successful visit to Penn State at the weekend. The Hoosiers (6-1-1, 1-1-0 B1G) will visit Michigan State (3-4-0, 0-2-0 B1G) Tuesday (Sept. 23) evening at DeMartin Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on the Big Ten Network.
KICKING OFF
• Despite going down 1-0 early, the Hoosiers pulled off a 4-1 victory in Happy Valley from a Josh Maher headed equalizer and Palmer Ault's second-half hat trick.
• Ault totaled seven points in the match, adding an assist to Maher's goal. The transfer forward and Indiana native leads the Big Ten in goals (7) and points (17).
• Indiana moved back into the consensus top five rankings, pending Tuesday's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 update. The Hoosiers rank No. 4 in the College Soccer News poll and No. 5 according to Top Drawer Soccer.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
• Michigan State comes off consecutive Big Ten defeats to Washington (2-1) and Ohio State (3-2). The Spartans have a 3-4-0 record but a 3-1-0 mark at home.
• Head coach Damon Rensing leads the Spartans in his 17th season, sporting a 151-116-49 record during his time in East Lansing.
• Freshman midfielder Luke Spadafora and junior midfielder Miles Merritt lead Michigan State with two goals, two assists and six points apiece.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana has dominated the all-time series with Michigan State, winning 45 of the 59 matchups. The Hoosiers won each of the first 30 meetings.
• Indiana took care of business in the last meeting, a 3-1 win and Todd Yeagley's 200th victory as Indiana head coach. Cristiano Bruletti – now a Hoosier – scored the lone goal for MSU from the penalty spot.
• Bruletti also assisted for Michigan State in IU's previous road trip in 2023, a 2-1 result that came as MSU's lone victory in the series since 2014.
