INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana track and field opened the Crossroads of America Invitational on Friday (January 23) inside the Fall Creek Pavilion with four different event winners and several personal bests on the opening day.
"I was very pleased with Trelee Banks's performance in the 200m to tie the school record, as well as our record-breaking Women's 4x400m relay for a second week in a row," said head coach Ed Beathea.
"Our vault crew guided by Coach [Jake] Wiseman swept all of the Pole Vault events and we had several outstanding and very encouraging events this weekend. We had a positive weekend which sets us up well for the second half of indoor season."
Kelly Moran got the day started for the Hoosiers. Her mark of 12.32m/40-5 in the triple jump was best for third in the event.
In the high jump, Lee Martin crossed the 2-meter mark for the third time this season, finishing second in the invitational with a height of 2.02m/6-7.5.
Seth Brosseau threw a distance of 17.18m/58-10 in the shot put to finish third overall.
Indiana will be back in action tomorrow when Kelly Moran opens competition with the women's triple jump. The event is set to start at 10 am.
After Friday's prelims, several Hoosiers saw high marks in the 60-meter and 60-meter hurdle finals. Tyler Tarter took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, while Aliyah Johnson got the win in the women's 60-meter final.
