Road Swing Begins At No. 7/6 Maryland On Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's basketball will set off on a two-game road swing when it first visits No. 7/6 Maryland on Sunday evening on Big Ten Network.

Maryland dropped its first game of the season in a 73-70 loss at Illinois on Thursday. Senior guard Yarden Garzon had 17 points in the loss while redshirt senior guard Saylor Poffenbarger added 15. Junior guard Oluchi Okananwa is the team's leading scorer, averaging 16.1 points per game on a 54.7 field goal percentage. Garzon adds 13.1 ppg. while Poffenbarger averagegs 11.8 ppg.

- Indiana stayed within striking distance in the first half but couldn't put together a complete game in an 80-60 loss to No. 24/19 Michigan State on New Year's Day. Senior guard Shay Ciezki led the way with 16 points while redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont had 14 points.
- Junior forward Edessa Noyan has started the last seven games for Indiana and in that span has added 7.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. She has since set a career-high 11 rebounds (vs. Western Michigan) and a season-high 13 points against Eastern Michigan. The Botkyrka, Sweden native is shooting 61.9 percent in those eight appearances in the starting lineup.
- Freshmen Nevaeh Caffey and Maya Makalusky have impacted the Hoosiers in the first 15 games of their careers. Caffey and Makalusky have both worked their way into the starting lineup. Caffey is averaging 7.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. The Warrenton, Mo. native is coming off back-to-back double figure scoring games against Minnesota and Michigan State. Makalusky entered the lineup against ULM and has appeared in all 15 games for the Hoosiers. She put up a season-high 22 points against ULM in her first career start and is chipping in 5.9 points per game.
- Redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont continues to find her place for Indiana as the team's second-leading scorer with 15.1 points per game. She's shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and 45.3 percent from the 3-point line. Additionally, the Lisle, Ill. native is one of iU's best free throw shooters at 90.2 percent. Her double figure scoring streak was extended to 14 games with her team-high 14 points against Michigan State.
