Indiana Softball to Compete at Elon & UNCG Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– In the final weekend of February, Indiana Softball will play in the Elon & UNCG Tournament from Friday (Feb. 27) to Sunday (March 1).
On Friday, Indiana will play in a doubleheader at Elon and then finish the weekend with games at UNCG on Saturday and Sunday.
The Hoosiers enter the weekend with an 11-4 record.

QUICK HITTERS:
- In Indiana's win over St. Joseph's (Feb. 21) at the USF Tournament, the Hoosiers set a single-game record for most triples in a game with Aly VanBrandt hitting two and Ellie Goins and Peyton Drummond each hitting one. The previous high was three in 2011. VanBrandt tied the program record for most triples in a single game.
- Avery Parker hit two home runs in the win over Boston College (Feb. 22) for the first time since 2024.
- Shonda Stanton will coach against her alma mater when the Hoosiers face UNC Greensboro in two games this weekend. At UNCG, she was a four-year starter and led the team to back-to-back Southern Conference Championships. Stanton scored 66 runs during her senior campaign in 1995, good for eighth in the nation and most all-time in a single season at UNCG.
- Indiana led the nation in three statistical categories in 2025: batting average (.365), doubles per game (2.13) and on base percentage (.454).
LAST TIME OUT:
- Through the first 15 games of the season, Indiana is outscoring its opponents 133-45 and hitting for a .385 batting average.
- The Hoosiers have four batters who are hitting above .400, including one player hitting over the .500 mark: aly VanBrandt (.529), Avery Parker (.486), Ellie Goins (.432) and Alex Cooper (.425).
- Parker leads the team in home runs (7) while Josie Bird has three and Goins and VanBrandt have notched two so far this year.
- Indiana won four of five games at the USF Tournament, with the only loss coming to USF in the first meeting, 5-3. The Hoosiers bounced back against USF with an 11-1 run rule in five innings.
- Indiana picked up three wins by run rule over the weekend. The team has racked up eight wins by run rule thus far in 2026.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Charleston Southern enters the weekend with a 3-14 mark a 1-4 showing at the SpaceU Classic. They won their opening game of the weekend against Notre Dame, 5-4. They also have wins over Sacred Heart and Marist.
- Elon is 3-11 thus far in 2026 and has won two out of their last four games with two wins over Dartmouth. This will be their second weekend hosting games and first in two weeks when they hosted Mount Saint Mary's, Manhattan and Dartmouth for the Elon Softball Phoenix Invitational (Feb. 12-15).
- The last two weeks the Phoenix have hosted Duke (Feb. 17) and most recently North Carolina (Feb. 25) this week, dropping both games.
- UNCG is 11-5 to begin the 2026 season and have won nine-straight games after a 2-5 start to the year. They are building on a 39-18 season in 2025 where they reached the third round of the Southern Conference Tournament before falling to Mercer.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Indiana's record against the field in the Elon & UNCG is as follows: Elon: 0-1 (last meeting: 2001), UNCG: 1-1 (last meeting: 2023). It will be the first all-time meeting with Charleston Southern.
