PRs highlight Day One of Windy City Invitational

Chicago, Ill. – Indiana track and field opened the Windy City Invitational on Friday (January 16) from the Gately Stadium with four different event winners and several personal bests on first day of competition.
"Today was another strong day of competition, with our athletes continuing to show up and perform at a high level," said associate head coach Valerie Brown. "Several athletes recorded personal-best marks, highlighting the progress and hard work across the team."
"We're looking forward to more competition tomorrow and are focused on putting ourselves in position for even more athletes to have a great day."
The day started with the men's weight throw. The No. 9 event group in the country continued their strong season as Nikolaos Sidirenios (2nd, 20.06m/65-9.75), Hunter Smith (20.04m/65-9), and Michael Neuenroth (19.21m/63-0.75) all finished in the top-four of the invite competition.
Hannah Alexander followed up in the women's weight throw invite with a fifth place finish. She threw for a distance of 19.37m/63-6.75.
Vince Davero closed the day in the field with the long jump invite. He made a season best mark of 7.35m/24-1.5 to finish third overall.
On the track, the day started with the women's 600-meter race. Nola Somers Glenn earned the first win of the day in the event, running a 1:#2.58 to get the win.
Ava Olomajeye continued the day winning the women's 400-meter race. She ran a personal best time of 55.16 that now ranks 14th in the school record book. Kylee Poulton also set a personal best time (56.25) to finish sixth overall.
In the men's 400-meter, Cameron Mullens also set a personal best (47.30) to win the competition. Mullen's time is now tied with Alan Turner for fifth in school history. Kalen Sargent also earned a fourth place finish with his time of 48.58.
The women's 800-meter runners all saw personal bests in the invite race. Catie McCabe (2:09.35) earned the event win, followed by Ciara Kepner (2:11.25) and Michaela Quinn (2:11.85) in third and fifth, respectively.
The Hoosiers will be back tomorrow to close the Windy City invitational. The day will start with the men's and women's high jump at noon.
