Indiana Drops Home Opener to Minnesota

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Minnesota edged Indiana in a close and low-scoring affair on Friday (March 6) night at Andy Mohr Field, winning the series opener, 2-0.
The loss puts Indiana's season record to 16-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Big Ten.
MINNESOTA 2, INDIANA 0
KEY MOMENTS
• The bats were quiet as a pitcher's duel was engaged throughout nearly the entire game.
• Each team only registered one hit in the first two innings, and no runs were scored by either side until the fifth inning.
• Indiana's Brooke Mannon had great control in the circle, throwing one strikeout for each of the innings that she pitched.
• Minnesota took the lead in the top of the fifth when Sydney Schwartz hit a home run to left field to go up 1-0.
• In the top of the seventh, Minnesota added another run to their count to make it a 2-0 game on a Scarlett Kuhn RBI single up the middle.
