BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 70 ranked Indiana Women's Tennis dropped its match against Purdue and defeated Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon in the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind.

Key Moments (Purdue)

The Hoosiers fought hard in doubles play. Towards the end of the matches, all courts reached a simultaneous 5-4 score with the home team having the edge on all three. Doubles No.2 (Elisabeth Dunac/Ameia Sorey) concluded with a 6-4 IU win. Purdue (5-4,1-0) took the advantage at No. 1 and No.3 to claim the doubles point.
The Boilers took the 2-0 edge after winning at singles No.6, with junior Chase Boyer taking the 6-3,6-0 defeat. Freshman Hi'ilani Williams put a point on the board for Indiana (10-3,0-1) with a 6-4,6-4 win over her Purdue Opponent.
The cream and crimson continued the pressure with three matches going to a third set. At singles No.4, senior Nicole Teodosescu fought to take the first set in a tie-breaker round. Despite putting up no points in set number two, she clawed back in the third to clinch the Hoosier's second singles point (7-6,0-6,6-3).
Freshman Alessandra Teodosescu took the second set at singles No.2 to help IU continue play, until Purdue took set number three to continue their advantage. Despite freshman Ameia Sorey taking the second set to tie-breaker points, she was unable to push past Boilermaker scoring and fell at singles No.1 (2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1) to ultimately give the match to Purdue, 4-2.

IU started the match off strong in doubles play, taking doubles No.3 (Chase Boyer/Nicole Teodosescu, 6-1) and No.1 (Alessandra Teodosescu/Hi'ilani Williams, 6-2), respectively, to clinch the doubles point and put the Hoosiers on the board.
The momentum carried into singles play. Junior Magdalena Swierczynska was featured in her first match of the day at singles No. 6 (6-0,6-0), shutting out her opponent from winning a game during their face-off and giving Indiana the 2-0 edge. Junior Elisabeth Dunac followed with a victory at singles No.3 (6-0,6-2) to secure her first singles win on the day. Junior Li Hsin Lin got the job done at singles No.5 (6-3,6-0) to conclude the contest and clinch the Hoosier victory.
