BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — After a near-perfect three-match, in-state homestand, the Hoosiers cross the Ohio River Monday (Aug. 31) to visit Louisville for their first road match of the 2026 season. Both teams come into the meeting with 3-0-0 records.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Fans unable to attend can watch the match on the ACC Network or via the Watch ESPN app.
KICKING OFF
• Defeating Notre Dame (3-1), Evansville (3-0) and Butler (1-0) to start the campaign, Indiana has yet to allow a goal from open play, its lone concession a penalty kick in the season opener. The Hoosiers shut out their last two opponents, Evansville and Butler.
• Indiana's top-ranked transfer class has made an instant impact, with maybe the most apparent example being Oliver Moller-Jensen. The reigning Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week recorded three goals and two assists in his first two matches as a Hoosier and tallied 11 shots on Thursday against Butler.
• Louisville head coach John Michael Hayden was a two-time national champion (2003-04) as an Indiana player, totaling 13 goals and 10 assists from 2003-06. Monday marks his first time facing his alma mater as a head coach.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
• Louisville opened the season with victories against IU Indy (2-1), Kentucky (3-2) and Lipscomb (3-1).
• Hayden owns a 60-49-19 record into his eighth season as head coach of Louisville men's soccer.
• Midfielder Giacomo Zizza leads the Cardinals with nine points through three matches, coming from four goals and one assist.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana and Louisville meet in the regular season for the first time in 10 years, the last matchup coming in 2016 – a 2-1 victory for IU, as Trevor Swartz converted the winning penalty kick right out of the halftime break.
• Indiana has won 19 of the 24 meetings all-time, including the first 14 matches of the series. The programs met annually until that 2016 match. IU won each of the last three meeting, and since the programs have met semi-regularly in exhibition matches since.
• Hayden helped IU to four consecutive 2-0 wins over the Cardinals from 2003-06. In the 2004 meeting, Hayden scored in the fourth minute to lead IU to victory. It was his fifth game-winning goal in six games.
