Indiana Set to Host New Hampshire, Central Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Field Hockey will host its first home matches of the season at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind. It will start the weekend on Friday, Sep 4 at 3 p.m. against New Hampshire, followed by a senior day match against Central Michigan on Monday, Sep 7 at 12 p.m.

WEEKEND REWIND
• The Hoosiers dropped both matches in their opening weekend (Aug 29-30) in Louisville, Ky.
• Indiana started the weekend in a neutral site match against No. 10 Miami (OH), where first-year midfielder Gabriela Gayayo Aranceta scored her first collegiate goal and notched the lone point for IU.
• It was a close match against Louisville on Sunday afternoon as second year forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo put one in the cage late in the fourth quarter to equalize the score and force the match to overtime.
• Louisville was able to score in the overtime period in the 72nd minute off a penalty stroke goal.

QUICK STATS
• Hoosier goalkeepers tallied eight total saves throughout Saturday's match, with third year Sadie Canelli and Smulders with the defensive effort. Against Louisville, Canelli totaled six saves.
• On Sunday, Indiana totaled 28 shots through the match with 16 being on-goal. It notched 37 shots on the weekend.
• Throughout the weekend, five Hoosiers made their collegiate debuts, including Gabriela Garayo Aranceta, Berta Sáenz de Santa Maria who started for IU. Augustina Garmonal, Isa Smulders and Elle Obenour also represented Indiana for the first time on Saturday.
• IU found strength in the 3rd period of the game, attempting 11 total shots in the third against both opponents.
• Gabriela Gayayo Aranceta made her first collegiate goal in her first career start with the Hoosiers on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
• The Hoosiers are set to take on New Hampshire on Friday, Sep. 4 at 3 p.m. in their home debut for the 2026 season at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind.
• New Hampshire is 0-2 after its opening weekend, falling to No. 20 Saint Joseph's and No. 11 UConn.
• IU is undefeated (5-0) against the Wildcats. The teams last met in 2016 when Indiana won 5-3 at home.
• On Labor Day, the cream and crimson will host Senior Day as they face Central Michigan at noon.
• Central Michigan is 0-3 this season, last recording a 2-1 loss against Stanford on Aug. 31.
• The Hoosiers are 10-1 in games featuring Central Michigan, last meeting in 2021 where IU secured the 3-2 road victory.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
• Indiana field hockey is looking forward to honoring six senior players on senior day, held Monday Sep 7 at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind.
• Five of the six players are returning for their fourth year, including Ava Winner, Javi Baeza, Theresa Ricci, Hannah Riddle, and Inés Garcia Prado. Karly Redman joins for her fifth year from UC Davis.
