IU Kicks Off adidas/IU Credit Union Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer (3-0-1, 0-0-0 B1G) returns home its annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, kicking off Labor Day weekend hosting Cal Poly (1-3-0, 0-0-0 Big West) Monday (Sept. 3) on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and tickets are on sale here. IU staff, faculty and students get in free with a valid Crimson Card ID. Fans unable to attend can watch the match via the B1G+ digital platform.
IU Credit Union will give away Indiana Soccer t-shirts to the first 500 fans in attendance Friday. Additionally, fans who show their ticket for Saturday's Indiana football game at the Armstrong Stadium ticket windows will receive a $5 ticket to the game.
KICKING OFF
• The Hoosiers remain unbeaten at 3-0-1 following a perfect three-match homestand to start the season and a 1-1 draw at Louisville on Monday.
• Indiana has not allowed a goal from open play through four matches (360 minutes) this season, its lone concessions coming from a penalty and a free kick. IU has earned clean sheets in two of its four matches, against Evansville and Butler.
• Nick McHenry represented the back line in this week's Big Ten award cycle, earning his fourth-career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor.
• The adidas/IU Credit Union Classic matches represent Indiana's last chances to get ready for Big Ten play. IU will open conference play next Friday, September 11, at Michigan.
ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
• Cal Poly comes into Friday's match unbeaten with one win and three draws. The Mustangs earned their first victory last Thursday (Aug. 27), crushing San Jose State 3-0.
• Oige Kennedy leads the Mustangs in his fourth season, carrying a 22-18-20 record during his time in San Luis Obispo. Kennedy owns a 124-55-29 career record over 11 seasons as a head coach between NCAA Division I and Division II.
• Nine different players have contributed to Cal Poly's eight goals, matching IU's scoring offense this season.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana and Cal Poly have split their limited all-time series, each program winning one of the two matches. Just as Thursday's match will come within the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, the previous two meetings were part of the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament hosted by Notre Dame.
• The programs first met during Todd Yeagley's first season as head coach of IU. Cal Poly earned a 1-0 victory thanks to an 83rd-minute winner from Chris Bernardi.
• Seven years later, the Hoosiers evened the score with a 2-0 victory in the season opener. Andrew Gutman and Mason Toye scored the goals, and Indiana earned its first of an NCAA-best 18 clean sheets.
