Ashley Benson is in her first year as a student assistant coach for the IU Volleyball program. She wrapped up her career in 2010 by leading the Hoosiers to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA tournament and earning first team All-America honors.

JUNIOR YEAR (2009)
Became IU Volleyball's first ever All-American, earning third team honors ... a unanimous All-Big Ten selection ... named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region squad ... shattered an all-time IU record with her .361 season hitting efficiency (422-103-883), besting the previous mark (.338) by 23 percentage points ... her attack percentage ranked fourth in the conference and 29th nationally ... also placed in the Big Ten statistical top-10 for blocks (150, 6th), service aces (33, 6th) and kills (422, 7th) ... averaged 1.18 blocks per set, cracking the national top-50 ... belted 26 aces during the conference slate, the second-most in the league ... her 150-block total ranks sixth all-time in school history ... named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 16 after a weekend which included the fourth-best blocking effort ever at IU (11 total blocks at Michigan State) ... dug 83 balls on the season ... ripped five service aces at Northwestern ... racked up 27 double-digit kill performances ... hit over .400 in half the matches (17) and over .300 in 26 different contests ... notched two double-doubles ... received an invitation to play on the U.S. Volleyball Women's National A2 team for the second straight year.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (2008)
         Started all 32 matches and played in every set ... named to the All-Big Ten team and given        AVCA All-Mideast Region honorable mention ... set the all-time IU record for most total        blocks in a season with 167 ... her 151 block assists are also a school record ... placed        her name in the top-10 for season hitting percentage as well, connecting at a .303        (372-119-834) rate, the sixth-best efficiency all-time ... ranked 18th nationally and sixth        in the Big Ten with 1.37 blocks per set ... named the National Player of the Week by        Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) on Oct. 27 ... also won her first of two Big Ten        Player of the Week awards on that date ... earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the        TIS Bookstore Invitational, adidas Classic and UK Wildcat Invitational ... ranked second on        the team with 372 kills ... tallied her first career double-double in front of 8,182 IU        fans in a victory over Ohio Sta         te during Hoosier Hysteria with 12 kills and 10 digs ... compiled nine block assists        against Eastern Kentucky, tied for the most in a three-set match all-time at IU ...        averaged one or more blocks per set in 24 of 32 matches ... hit over .300 in nearly half        the contests (15) ... in the spring, earned a spot on the U.S. Volleyball Women's National        A2 team.
FRESHMAN YEAR (2007)
         Made an appearance in all 32 matches, including 106 sets ... set the IU freshman record        for most total blocks with 140 in her rookie campaign ... her 140 rejections also rank as        the seventh highest total in school history, regardless of class ... in addition to leading        the team in blocks, she also ranked second with a .267 hitting efficiency ... that hitting        efficiency is the highest ever for a freshman at IU ... her 1.32 blocks/set average ranked        tenth in the Big Ten ... a two-time all-tournament team selection as she was recognized as        such at both the University of Tennessee Comcast Classic and the IU adidas Classic ...        recorded double-digit kills in 12 matches, including a dominating performance at Ohio State        in which she hit .485 with 17 kills with one error on 33 attempts ... tallied nine or more        blocks on three different occasions ... dug a season-high five balls against        Northwestern.
PREP
         Named team MVP at Bloomington North High School her senior season ... touted as "Top        Blocker" for junior and senior campaigns ... an all-conference selection in `05 and `06 ...        ranked 17th in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com and 18th by volleyball expert John Tawa ...        placed 13th at Nationals in the American Division as a member of the 18-1 Hoosierland Club        team in 2006.
PERSONAL
         The daughter of Kent Benson and Monica Sutton ... born on Feb. 20, 1989 ... has three        sisters (Andrea, Elizabeth and Gennie) ... her older sister, Gennie, played volleyball at        Vincennes University and her father played basketball for the Hoosiers from 1974-77 ... is        a General Studies major.
