Stefan Evano enters his second season with Indiana Rowing and will serve as the Hoosiers’ Director of Equipment and Operations.
In his first season with the Hoosiers, Evano and the IU coaching staff was named the CRCA National Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Hoosiers to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship, where they finished 11th.
He joined the program after serving as a volunteer assistant coach in 2011 before being promoted to assistant coach at Oregon State during the 2012-13 season, coaching the novice and varsity boats. His Varsity 4 crew earned consecutive PAC-12 medals in 2012 and 2013 and placed sixth nationally in the open four in 2013.
During that time, he also served as the head coach for the Corvallis Rowing Club. During the 2010-11 season, Evano worked with Oregon State’s rigger managing maintenance and care for the program’s rowing equipment.
Evano, a native of Eugene, Ore., was a coxswain for the Beavers from 2007-11. He earned his B.S. from Oregon State in Liberal Studies in 2011.
