Hoosiers host five Big Ten dual meets; quads on back-to-back home weekends
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana head wrestling coach Duane Goldman put the finishing touches on the Hoosiers' 2017-18 season schedule. The road to this season's championships includes 11 home dual meet opponents, five against the Big Ten, and two weekend tournaments.
The journey begins in 68 days with the Clarion Open on Sunday, November 5 at Clarion's University Rec Center. The opening weekend will feature returning Hoosiers vying for a position in the starting lineup along with newcomers honing their craft at the collegiate level.
Indiana's dual season commences on Thursday, November 16 at Bloomsburg, a precursor to their Saturday, November 18 trip to Annapolis for the Navy Classic. The Hoosiers won the team title at last year's edition of the Navy Classic, taking two championships (Bryce Martin – 165 lbs.; Nate Jackson – 184 lbs.) and nine podium finishes in total.
The Hoosiers will begin their final season inside University Gymnasium on Sunday, November 26 with their first of two quad dual meets. This slate, dubbed the IU Duals, starts against Eastern Michigan at 10:00 a.m. ET, followed by a dual with Binghamton at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Hoosiers close the quad meet at 1:00 p.m. ET against the University of Indianapolis.

Indiana's Big Ten dual meet schedule opens in a flurry. On Sunday, December 10, the Hoosiers travel to Tim Beyerle Memorial Gymnasium in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for a neutral site clash against Ohio State, the reigning Big Ten Champions. The next weekend on Sunday, November 17, Indiana heads to Penn State's Rec Hall for a meet with the NCAA Champion Nittany Lions. Both meets begin at 12:00 p.m. ET.
The final tournament action before the Big Ten Championships will take place at the 55th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, one of the premier regular season wrestling tournaments, from Friday, December 29 to Saturday, December 30. With the ongoing renovations to Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena, this year's Midlands Championships will be held at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Michigan will be the first Big Ten team visiting the Hoosiers in dual competition this season on Friday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Indiana will have two weeks' rest between that and their next home dual meet against Michigan State, set for a 7:00 p.m. start on Friday, January 19.
Indiana's only double road weekend follows the two-dual home stand, as the Hoosiers head to Wisconsin for an 8:00 p.m. ET dual meet on Friday, January 26. They'll stay out west for another dual on Sunday, January 28 against Nebraska at 3:00 p.m. ET.
The Hoosiers will head home for the final three dual meets of the season, starting with a Friday, February 2 encounter with Illinois at 7:00 p.m. ET. In-state rival Purdue comes to Bloomington on Sunday, February 4, with mat action beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
On Sunday, February 11, Indiana will hold their Senior Day ceremony prior to their 1:00 p.m. ET dual meet against Northwestern. The matches are not only the final bouts of Indiana's regular season; it's the last dual meet and athletic competition in the 30-year history of University Gymnasium. The Hoosiers will move into a new competition facility before the start of the 2018-19 season.
The 2018 Big Ten Wrestling Championships will run from Saturday, March 3 to Sunday, March 4 at the Breslin Student Events Center on Michigan State University's campus. Indiana hosted the 2017 Big Ten Championships last season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
The season ends with one of the greatest weekends in college athletics, the NCAA Wrestling Championships. The action begins on Thursday, March 15 and ends with the finals on Saturday night, March 17. Grapplers will meet under one roof at Quicken Loans Arena, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
