On Saturday, Oct. 1, Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium had several unique Hoosier fans for the Indiana versus Wisconsin matchup. In appreciation for their generous and loyal support of Indiana Athletics, the Varsity Club and the Athletics Department invites the Courtesy Car dealers to one away football game. For the 2005 season, 16 dealerships and 39 guests made the Oct. 1 trip to see the Hoosiers take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
"This year's trip was one of the best we've ever had," said Varsity Club Assistant Director Anthony Thompson said. "It was fantastic to have both Rick Greenspan and Coach Terry Hoeppner speak with the dealers and make them feel so welcome on the trip. It demonstrates how important the Courtesy Car program is to the Athletics Department. We are grateful to have a great group of dealers that are outstanding and valuable supporters of IU Athletics."
The car dealer trip has become a Varsity Club tradition. For almost 30 years, Varsity Club representatives and dealers in the Courtesy Car Program have made the trek to one away game a year for a weekend of cheering on the Hoosiers.
The Varsity Club and the IU Athletic Department sincerely appreciate the automobile dealers who are located statewide and in neighboring states who comprise the Courtesy Car Program. These dealers greatly impact the successful recruiting of student-athletes as well as the retention of quality coaches through their generous provision of courtesy vehicles. IU Athletics is fortunate to have a large group of dealers, listed below, who proudly support our athletic program as well as other community activities. Many dealerships not only provide vehicles for use in the athletic department, but are loyal fans at many Hoosier athletic events. The Courtesy Car Program has grown to include over 20 dealers and nearly 30 cars.
