Opening Statement:
GM: "I really sensed before the game, for whatever reason, we didn't seem like we were ready to go. This surprised me because we practiced extremely well this week. In pre-game warm-ups, I really thought we were going through the motions. As a coach, about every time you think you got that right, you're wrong. Before we came out on the field I said there is something not right here guys. I think the way we played in the first half my observations were correct. We didn't push the panic button. We challenged them at halftime, and the third quarter was obviously the story of the game."
On emotions and what was said at halftime:
GM: "I wouldn't say they were angry but I was angry. We have a pretty solid group, and they were resolved. I think they challenged each other."
On the running game in the third quarter:
GM: "We were trying to run some of that stuff in the beginning. It is not a secret that we like to run the football at Minnesota. That's why they call us Gophers. If we were Eagles we would throw more. They are really built to stop the run, Indiana. They have the ability against some of our formations to play nine man fronts and we still tried to crack that code. We just had trouble sustaining drives and couldn't come up with the big play but then all of the sudden we got it going in the third quarter."
On the play of running backs Gary Russell and Laurence Maroney:
GM: "I really wasn't surprised by Gary's performance. Gary is a darn good running back. We've been aware ever since he took that sixty-one yard run against Michigan in the closing seconds. They compliment each other, Gary isn't as fast as Laurence but Gary is awfully strong. It's amazing how many times there is a bunch of guy hanging on him. He's a good football player."
