IU Concludes Counsilman Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Indiana swimming closed out the 2005 FINIS Counsilman Classic June 12 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., with competition in the distance and middle distance events.
In the women's 800 LCM freestyle, rising junior Lauren Torpey claimed 17th place with a time of 9:15.15, while classmate Doherty Colgin finished 26th in 9:25.08. Additionally, rising sophomore Clarissa Wentworth placed 33rd in 9:34.17.
In the men's 1,500 LCM freestyle, rising sophomore Ryan McNeill took sixth place with a time of 16:17.86, while rising freshman John Kevin Koehler placed 10th in 16:30.82. Meanwhile, rising sophomore Paul Sigfusson came in 30th with an 18:12.48.
In the men's 200 LCM IM, IU signee A.J. Miller captured ninth place with a time of 2:12.82. Additionally, rising freshman Alec Haley finished 17th in 2:13.36.
In the women's 200 LCM backstroke, rising sophomore Leila Vaziri secured sixth place in 2:21.24., while classmate Susanna Ernst finished 16th in 2:30.42. Vaziri also came back in the 100 LCM freestyle to claim 10th place in 58.41, while rising sophomore Annica Lofstedt placed 11th in 58.73.
In the men's 100 LCM freestyle, rising sophomore Lee Houchin snared seventh place with a time of 52.44 to conclude IU's performances in the Circle City.
