BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Nov. 12, freshman wrestler Nathan Everhart earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"Nathan is an excellent student-athlete in all ways," Indiana head coach Duane Goldman said. "He has adjusted quickly to the pace of college academics after being a strong student in high school. It is important for Indiana to have well-rounded student-athletes like Nathan performing in all aspects of college athletics."
The Tinley Park, Ill., native is pursuing a degree in biology in order to attend dental school after graduation.
According to academic advisor Dustin Swanson, Everhart has had great success transitioning from high school to college and has been phenomenal in balancing his commitment in the classroom, with a very challenging course load, and his commitment in the weight room and to the team. "Nathan just seems to be a natural in everything he does," Swanson said. "He is the type of student-athlete that knows how to learn from a failure and better himself with every experience."
