BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending April 9, freshman volleyball player Emily Zulauf earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"Emily's work ethic this spring both in the classroom and on the court have been tremendous," Indiana head coach Katie Weismiller said. "Emily's countless hours dedicated to her studies have been reflected in her grades again this spring. We are very pleased to see her putting in the same time and passion in her studies as she does on the court. Emily is indeed one of the most improved players on the court this spring. I am not surprised to hear that she has been awarded the IU Scholar-Athlete for her efforts this spring."
After a stellar freshman year, Zulauf applied to the Kelley School of Business. She also is enrolled in an extremely challenging semester of courses and has dedicated herself to succeeding in them.
"Emily is probably one of the most determined and hard working student-athletes at IU," academic advisor Jen Brand said. "Emily uses our tutors and resources consistently, and is one of those students that you have to ask to leave at the end of the day when the office closes. I know she would stay and continue working if we would let her. Emily sets a wonderful example for her teammates on the volleyball team and for all of our student-athletes at IU."
